ÁLVARO SIZA

The Carlos Ramos Pavilion, one of the buildings of the School of Architecture of Porto (FAUP),
was designed by the architect Álvaro Siza. Built between 85/86 has been recently
rehabilitated. Respecting and reinterpreting the existing garden, the building
was designed to naturally integrate the scale of existing constructions and the
presence of secular trees have determined the twists of the building and the
retreat of its base in a way that would not affect their roots. The Pavilion
hosts one of the years of the architecture course constituting a permanent
lesson and inspiration for the future generation of architects.
